Kentucky Governor Approves Cash Option For Past Lottery Winners

Frankfort, KY (March 2006): Governor Ernie Fletcher has signed a new bill that changes the State’s lottery law. The new law, introduced as HB 472, gives past lottery winners the right to trade their remaining payments for upfront cash.

The new law is modeled on laws already in effect in dozens of other states.  The new law will make it possible for past winners to raise cash by pledging or selling their rights to receive future payments. The law will become effective on June 27, 2006.
